Around the Neighborhood Where I Work - Part 1

Thought I'd take you on a little tour around the neighborhood where I work.  It's a very upscale neighborhood where years ago executives from P & G settled.  Most of the houses are very beautiful.  This first picture is just leaves from a tree in the yard where I work.  I just love the needles.

This first house is directly across the street from the office.  I'm not sure I like the bright yellow, a magnificent house none the less.  The bunting is up year round.  The garbage cans in the foreground kind of spoil the picture.  Now that I look at the house, it kind of reminds me of the house on Fantasy Island.

Love the wrap around porch and the Weeping Willow...not sure about the window air conditioner though.

The next two pictures are of the same house.  The first one showing the large frontage.

Then a closer view...very pretty.

Catching a Breeze from the Overlooks

Two shots from one of the overlooks on the trail.

A bit of fungi popping up.

All Different

All different shapes, textures, colors etc.

Red and gold...how pretty.  I'm sure hummingbirds love these pretty flowers.

More fungi growing up a tree trunk.

I like taking shots of spiderwebs.  Some I get good pictures of, others I do not.  I like the shape of the hole in this web.

Gorgeous Flowers

Saw this beautiful mound of flowers from a distance, so I parked my car and walked across the field to check it out.

The mound looked beautiful, but I realized the  individual blooms were so magnificent.

This one's my favorite.  For some reason it reminds me of Florida.

A Sea of Yellow

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions on what to do regarding the limitation of space for my pictures.  I've deleted some older posts and a some of my pictures.  Hopefully, I haven't deleted some of my more recent pictures...I'm still a bit frustrated with the blog.  I've kept these pictures a bit smaller..I'm not sure if that helps space or not, probably not.

These are pictures I took on my way out of Miami Whitewater.  I just loved the sea of yellow flowers.

What Should I Do?

I have a new dilemma...any suggestions would be appreciated.  I just found out I have used up my 1 GB of space for pictures.  WHAT!!!!????

Now, I have to decide how I can change that.  Yeah, I can BUY more space, but being the tightwad that I am, I don't want to do that.  I guess I could delete some of my old pictures, but do I want to do that?  I know they will disappear from the blog...but who reads back that far?

I'm not sure what else I can do.  If anyone reads this and has some suggestions, ones that don't involve spending money, I'm all ears.  Oh heck, even if involves spending money, it may be something I can consider.

So, for today, this is my post.   I know Google doesn't charge THAT much, but I want to explore other possibilities if there are any out there.  Have a great day everyone!

Creatures Great and Small

This is probably the last of the pictures I took while having camera problems.  I'm including this shot because I think you can see enough of the little froggie head to recognize him.  I, of course, think he's cute!

The colors on this shell are picture worthy.  Actually, this little guy was upside down when I found him on the log.  I turned him over to see if he was OK, and as you can tell by the goo spillage, he was NOT OK.  Poor little guy.

I found this little guy hopping down the bunny trail.

Beautiful wild turkeys from Shawnee Lookout.  Their faces aren't beautiful (but I'll bet their mama thought they were), but the feathers are very colorful.

Colors and Textures

I'm not sure what these berries are, but I liked their color and smoothness.

Can't quite tell what this little guy is either, but he caught my eye.

This leaf was beginning to dry up but I liked the way the veins are so prominent...and the moss too.

Fungi on a tree root in the middle of the trail.

Poking, Peeking & Clinging!

On Saturday while hiking I passed a couple hiking in the opposite direction.  They asked if I had gotten any good pictures.  I told them I had, and they commented that rarely do they see anything during their hikes.  Of course, they seemed to be hiking at a fast pace, so I told them that I stop regularly and just look around at the surroundings.  Sometimes deer and other things are right there, but if you don't take the time to look you will never see them.  I may not be fast on the trails, but I definitely try to be observant...there's so much to see, if you just look!

Love how this little sprig is poking up from the moss covered log.

and this pretty little lady peeking out from under the leaf.

Clinging to the leaf...I almost missed him.

Shots From the Trail

Some of these pictures were still when I was having problems with my camera, so they are a little fuzzy.

A better picture than I posted the other day of this little butterfly.

This is just a spider web, but the bright sunlight makes it look like a crystal.

I'm not sure what this bird is, but the tree was very far away and was a very tall tree.  I was hoping once I zoomed in on the bird I would be able to tell what kind of bird it was.  If you have any ideas, please comment.

This, of course, is very fuzzy, but the profile looks a bit hawkish.  Oh well, I'll look for this guy again.

Do You Ever Feel Like a Slug?

Some days I feel just like this little guy,

Some of these shots were taken when I started having problems with the my camera.  We eventually figured out what was wrong, unfortunately though some of my shots are blurry.  This was a pretty little butterfly on clover.  The picture didn't look at all blurry when I took it, but this was what I ended up getting.

I'm pretty sure this is a bluejay.  I had a hard time getting this shot.  It isn't the best, but I'm always happy to get a bird shot...they don't sit still like fungi and flowers!

New Faces & So Long Muffin!

STAF houses hundreds of cats, and it is almost impossible to get to know each and every one of them when you only volunteer one day a week.  So, sometimes you may encounter a new cat roaming the halls.  I found this next little guy roaming the halls.  I don't know his/her name but he was just what I needed to wake me up (it was shortly after 6 am) and remind me of why I get up that early on my day off to come and help some well deserving kitties.  I look forward to seeing more of this cute little kittie who followed me around on my rounds.  He/she has some spots of fur missing on his back, and his back legs seemed slightly weak...I'm not sure what his story is.

Here is another little roamer from the hallways.  After taking out my can of trash to the dumpster, I found this sweet little guy taking a nap on the bottom of my cart.  I gave him a ride up to the vet room door where I had to leave him before heading out to the dock to put away my supplies.  All these kitties are just so sweet..each one different, but all so sweet!

A closer peek as she sleeps.  ;-)

This next little girl was in Room 6 and she seems quite lively...so I think she may be quite young, her name is Antoinette.  She was finding all kinds of things to play with while all the other kitties were trying to sleep while I cleaned.

I found out this morning, my little friend Muffin was adopted!!!  Yay for Muffin!  Muffin was always up and alert and always had something to say.  I will definitely miss her, but so happy she found a good home!
