New Year's Eve Posting

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and hope 2012 is a great year for all.  I was never much of a fan of New Year's Eve...to me it's just another day.  There were years I stayed up to ring in the new year, have a little wine and some cheese, crackers etc.  But, that's all behind me.  I'll probably be in bed by 11:00, and have no snacks or drinks.  I'd regret it in the morning once I step on that scale...I certainly don't want to wreck everything I've worked so hard for this past year.

Thought these berries were really pretty!

These yellow leaves looked so pretty on this tree...reminded me of decorations.

Reflections in the water.

These yellow/golden leaves looked so pretty against the other green leaves.

Mud and silt at the bottom of the creek made such a pretty pattern.

Cute clusters of toadstools.

Itty bitty fungi.

Ducks and Geese Just Wanna Swim!

Gosh darn it!  Ducks and geese just wanna swim....in a lake, on top of the grass, in a parking lot.  They don't care, they just need their water to swim.

After Many Days of Rain

It was great getting back outside after many days of hard rains.  The trails were too muddy for sure, so we headed over to Winton Woods Lake to get some beautiful shots of the clear sky and some quackers along the way.

If you look closely you can see that the lake left behind some mud and silt after the water receded.

These next two pictures don't look like much, but it's whats left after some major flooding along the trail...leaving nothing much but mud.

I thought the color of these berries was so pretty.

Hidden wonders in the forest.

Birds, Weeds, Fungi & Pretty Little Flowers

A downy woodpecker.  I just love woodpeckers!  Sometimes they're hard to get good shots of because they always seem to jump to the backside of the tree.

Tiny little toadstools on the side of a tree.
A Northern Cardinal

I know this is just a weed...but it's still pretty.
 More fungi.

 Dainty little white flowers.
